Clear Wood Stain & Paints

A clear wood stain is the perfect choice if you want to draw attention to the natural grain and unique characteristics of your timber, without losing any of its colour. At Protek, we know how important a good clear exterior wood stain is, and we're proud to offer clear stains in a variety of our product ranges - from our budget-friendly Timber Eco Shield and Wood Stain & Protect ranges to our clear Decking Stain and our Stable Coat range. And for indoor projects, we also offer a clear Royal Interior stain. We also stock a range of clear edge searlers for ESP panels and ESP timber for an extra professional finish.

It's worth noting that traditional clear coatings do not usually provide the same level of UV protection as tinted or coloured finishes as pigments help to shield timber from sunlight. This means that using only a clear coat may lead to wood greying and discolouration over time. To make sure your timber is well-protected for longer, we advise using the majority of our clear shades as top-coats above more pigmented stains or wood paints. However, our new and improved clear UV Extra Royal Exterior stain has advanced UV protection, helping timber keep its freshly-finished look for longer and not requiring a base colour. Unlike standard clear coatings, Royal Exterior Clear UV Extra contains advanced UV blockers, UV absorbers and light stabilisers offering protection against greying and weathering.
